The house is perfectly painted, with accenting trim and shutters. The flowerbeds are perfectly kept, with a rainbow of flowers and decorative shrubs. The lawn is kept immaculate. And the white picket fence just got a new coat of paint. And then an ice storm brings down every tree, bush, and plant in the yard.
We all have visions of how we want our relationships to be.
Sometimes, the unexpected happens and you’ve got to regroup and pick up
the pieces. It’s not because of what you did, or didn’t do. Life
sometimes happens whether you want it to or not.
Your relationship is the same way. Sometimes things just happen
unexpectedly. Kids, job schedules, and caring for aging parents can
keep you so busy that you forget that you’re in this thing together.
On-call schedules of emergency personnel, police, and physicians can be
as challenging as deployment of military personnel. It can be hard to
make time just to be together.
At Operation Us, we know that, sometimes, couples need a little help
to make things better. That’s why we’re offering workshops that will
show you skills you can actually use to communicate better and deal
with conflict more effectively. This isn’t therapy, and we’d actually
prefer not to see your dirty laundry. But we think you’ll find that a
little positive guidance can go a long way to reconnecting with each
other.
